Veteran actor, Adebayo Faleti is dead

Veteran actor, ace broadcaster, poet and writer, Chief Adebayo Faleti is dead.

gathered that Adebayo, aged 86, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, precisely about 6am at University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Chief Adebayo, who is the pioneer staff of the first television station in Africa, Western Nigeria Television (WNTV), has been ill lately and was admission at the hospital.

Faleti, a great influence for translating Nigeria’s National Anthem from English to Yoruba and speeches being made by the then military president of Nigeria Ibrahim Babangida and Head of National Interim Government of Nigeria, Chief Ernest Shonekan from English to Yoruba.

He would also be remembered for his dictionary containing the formal or official use of Yoruba names, among other many awards he has received, both locally and internationally, including the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), the Festival of Arts award with Eda Ko L’aropin and the Afro-Hollywood Award for Outstanding Performance in Arts

A family source who confirmed his death informed journalists that his body has been taken to anatomy section at the UCH.
