Kosoko, 9 others take acting to prison

Beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s initiative to support stakeholders of the movie industry, Project Nollywood, in the Yoruba movie sector, have quickly settled down to study at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. R gathtered during the week that the 10 beneficiaries, Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri, Sola Kosoko, Fathia Balogun, Abiodun Olanrewaju, Toyosi Ileyemi Solape Olatubosun, Yinka Olaoye, Sunday Alabi and Tope Olaiya, had completed their registration exercise and have started attending classes in Cinematography, Directing, Producing and Editing.

On Tuesday, their second day at school, the actors and actresses paid a visit to the prison where they rehearsed for long hours with selected inmates. “We expect those who have a flair for acting among them to be motivated, as many of them were afraid they had no future once they are out of jail. It shouldn’t be so,” Kosoko said.

Excited Odule, national president of TAMPPAN, said he was sure the 10 students would do well in their present calling and go on to share their experiences with others once they graduate in six months.

“A lot is expected of them and we are all waiting to benefit from their academic experience once they graduate. This is a lofty project from the government and we are ready to take advantage of it as expected,” he said.
