Islamic singer, Omotayebi shines at City People awards

Alhaja Aminat Babalola-Balogun popularly known as Omotayebi, who recently emerged as Amira –woman leader– of Islamic Musician Association of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, emerged the best female Islamic singer of the year at the just-concluded City People Entertainment Awards, held last Sunday at the Time-Square event place, Ikeja, Lagos.

The ceremony witnessed the attendance of popular figures in the entertainment industry including: Olu Jacob and his wife, Joke, M.I Abaga, Femi Adebayo, Oge Okoye, Odunlade Adekola, Mercy Aigbe-Gentry, Iyabo Ojo, Victor Olaitan, Lil kesh, Praiz, Rukayat Gawat, Madam Kofo, Juliet Ibrahim, and many others.


Fast-raising Yoruba movie director, Okiki Afolayan won the award for the ‘Most Promising Director’ and Mavin Records act; Reekado Banks won the ‘Most Promising Act’ while label mate, Don Jazzy was awarded a ‘Special Recognition Award’ for his remarkable contributions towards the growth of Entertainment Industry in Nigeria.

Actress, Moji Olaiya, also won the ‘Best Supporting Actress of the Year’ for the second time while Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo and other actrs won in various categories.

It will be recalled that the 2014 Yoruba Music and Films Awards of YOMAFA, saw Omotayebi, who recently released an album entitled: ‘Esan’ emerged as the best Islamic female singer.
