Ogun set to make history with Ebenezer Obey at 75

Still in the euphoria of celebrating notable sons of Ogun State, the Gateway state is set to stage another historical celebration for the music icon, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, in his country home. It is part of the activities to specially honour the Miliki maestro as he clocks 75.

Sky Entertainment gathered that the Ogun State government, eminent personalities and indeed the entire citizens of the state have concluded plans to make the event historic. The chief host of the April 3 birthday celebration, Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is ready to give it all for Obey, as well as host eminent Nigerians, elder statemen, great men of God, politicians, socialites, among other dignitaries from all walks of life in Abeokuta, the state capital.

From all indications, the event is crucial to the government, as it sees it as an opportunity to honour the music legend, who has proved to be “a worthy and illustrious son of the state through his music talent for decades,” in a grand style.

Sky Entertainment
learnt that Sir Kensington Adebutu will be the chief launcher of the Ebenezer Obey Music Foundation (EOMF), an initiative aimed to give young, talented artistes a facelift in the music industry.

Also, in his quest to contribute to the overall success of the event, it was also learnt that the father of the day of the April 3 event, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has footed the bills of the OOPL Marquee Events Centre, Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, as the venue to host guests.

According to the Idogo community, the birthday festivity will not be complete without appreciating Obey on his immense and sustained contribution to the growth of the community.

The Idogo Area Progressive Union (IAPU), alongside with the Oba of Idogo, will upgrade the title of the music icon from a pioneer member to Chief patrons.

The programme, according to statement made available Sky Entertainment, will commence with the official commissioning of the Idogo Police Post, built by Obey, on March 23. The event will also coincide with the posthumous birthday of his wife, Evangelist Juliana Olaide Obey-Fabiyi.
