Why MTN dropped Shina Peters, Timaya, Sean Tizzle, D Prince, others

Facts emerged during the week as to why telecommunications company, MTN, decided not to renew the contracts of some of its ambassadors.
For more than four weeks, fans and friends of some of the artistes on the bill of MTN had been worried about the silence of the company over the contract renewal of its brand ambassadors.
It was exclusively revealed two weeks ago that about eight ambassadors on the bill of MTN might not get their contracts renewed.

Timaya who was signed last year was said to have been dropped because he could not live up to the expectation of the brand. Similarly, D Prince and Sean Tizzle, despite working hard to drop new songs and videos in the last few months to justify their ambassadorial roles, they were said to have been dropped as a result of their inability to keep the ‘fire burning’. Their presence on social media dropped in the last one year and their fan base did not record any major improvement.
A source who is close to some of the artistes said some of the artistes could  not get renewals, because they did not justify the roles they were given. “Some of them have been laid back and did not drop any hit song that could boost their chances”, he said.
It was fun and relaxation, days back, as fans, celebrities and lovers of music converged on the Fuse Lounge,Victoria Island, Lagos to meet with the 2015 MTN Ambassadors.
The likes of Shina Peters, Sean Tizzle, D Prince, Timaya whose contracts were not renewed could not be part of the fun.
MTN renewed deals with Iyanya, Praiz, Chidinma, Sound Sultan, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Don Jazzy and others.
The highpoint of the meet and greet party was the presentation of certificates of endorsement to the Ambassadors. Hafiz Oyetoro Aka “Saka,” who made the famous move at the peak of “I don port” campaign, also joined others to renew his contract.
